Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ and Ring Size Info:
Q: What is "biker jewelry"? A: Biker jewelry distinguishes itself from being gothic, or from various other types of jewelry, by being made of thick and bold metals. This gives biker jewelry its trademark masculine look. It often features a combination of leather and steel/silver, the two essential elements of the “born to be wild” image. Massive biker jewelry bling is not for the weak-of-heart, unless you consider a one-pound silver wallet chain to be a feminine piece of jewelry. The biker jewelry of today has evolved from the classic wallet chain and skull ring into highly-intricate, custom, handcrafted, beautiful pieces of wearable art made in sterling silver and other precious metals. In the world of biker jewelry, boldness, designs and motifs matter. Aficionados value good silver designs just like tattoo lovers value great ink designs. Patina on silver provides beautiful black and silver contrast like no other metals. So before you go out and buy some expensive or even cheap biker jewelry, do some research. Know what choices you have, other than the designer inspired and mass produced junk that saturates shopping malls and online auction sites. Say goodbye to generic eBay silver jewelry, but look for the eBay sellers that are offering authentic designer pieces and one-offs.
Q: Why do some silver biker jewelry sell for so cheap? A: Reputable dealers and designers know that a lot of biker jewelry from Thailand, China, as well as other parts of the world, is mass-produced junk. However, there are many reputable designers that have their own production houses, or even outsource part or all of their production, in Asia. But that's another story for another occasion. What we are talking about is the mass-produced and generic biker jewelry that plagues the Internet and your local stores. These are designer inspired products, meaning that the designs are copied from well-known designers and produced cheaply on a large scale to be sold around the world. Just as you would be able to spot a designer inspired LV handbag, a connoisseur of biker jewelry would be able to spot a designer inspired Stanley Guess bracelet. Other obvious examples would be designer inspired Chrome Hearts or, even, Tiffany jewelry. The designer inspired pieces don't have the actual logos stamped on them, or that would make them counterfeits. Another important fact is that most cheap biker jewelry is made from recycled silver.

Ring Info:
Rings and gauges are hard metal objects that can be measured exactly, but your finger is flesh and bone. Your finger is not round and it cannot be measured with the same degree of accuracy as the ring. At the end of the day, the right ring is one that will stay on comfortably. Average ring finger sizes may be useful as a point of reference for people. They are offered to help you know if your calculations are reasonable.
The average adult woman’s ring finger size is 6 to 8, or L to Q. Most American jewelers stock women’s samples in size 7. The average adult man is size 9 to 11, or J to W. Most American jewelers get men’s samples in size 10. Generally speaking, almost any ring can be safely sized up or down 2 sizes by a qualified jeweler. So, our size 9 rings can be sized down to 7 or sized up to 11. Our size 10 rings can be sized up to 12 or sized down to 8. Between a ring that fits tight and one that fits a little loose, choose the looser fit.
Please be aware that depending on the design on the finger and the width of the band, there can be some variables as to what size you will need for that particular ring. Large rings such as the ones we offer at Skull N Roses will fit a bit more snugly than your average thin rings. Only channel-set, invisible-set diamond rings and other complicated styles of designs will not tolerate sizing. Don’t worry because we normally do not carry such items. If any ring cannot be safely sized, we will indicate the information in the item's description.
Finger sizes sometimes do not correspond to body size. Finger sizes also are prone to change with temperature, humidity, exercise, what you have been eating, time of day, time of the month, pregnancy and other factors. Dominant hand is usually 1/2 size larger, so if you are right handed and have a size 7 ring that fits the left hand, it is reasonable to guess that a 7 1/2 will fit the right hand. Quarter sizes are offered to help you get the best fit, however quarter sizes make more difference on smaller fingers than on large fingers. The best size is usually the ring that fits snugly and gives a little resistance when you take it off. Wider rings should be a little looser than narrow rings.
